When we are in touch with decoration, we often hear the term “veneer plywood”, which is an indispensable part of our decoration and is deeply loved by the decoration industry and companies. So, what is veneer plywood, what are the classifications and how to choose it correctly? Now let’s take a look.
Classification of veneer plywoods
Beech veneer plywood: can be processed into boards, squares, and flakes. The grain is fine and straight, or evenly punctiform. The wood is hard, strong, wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant and impact-resistant, not easy to warp and crack after drying, and the clear paint coating effect is quite good. Used for solid wood floors, stair handrails, and various decorative wires (door and window covers, furniture edge bands, corner lines, grilles, etc.) sheet (surface material) combined with plywood (base material) for walls, cylinders, door and window covers and furniture decorative plywood.
Maple plywood: The pattern is obvious water ripples, or fine stripes. Mostly used for solid wood floors and furniture decorative plywood.
Teak plywood: hard texture, fine and durable, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant, not easy to deform. Its boards can be used for solid wood floors, and veneers are used for furniture and wall surfaces.
Walnut plywood: The color ranges from light gray-brown to purple-brown, and the texture is thick and varied. After the clear paint is applied, the texture is more beautiful, and the color is deeper and more stable. Before painting, the walnut veneer should avoid scratches and whitening on the surface, and the number of times of painting should be 1~2 more than other veneers.
Ash plywood: yellowish-white color, fine structure, straight and thick texture, small expansion and shrinkage rate, good wear resistance and impact resistance. It is divided into ash mountain grain and ash straight grain. Fraxinus mandshurica is used for anti-aging paint during construction, and its effect is no less than that of high-end varieties such as cherries, and it has another flavor. It is suitable for decoration of living room, study and furniture in home.
Cherry plywood: Heartwood is deep red to reddish brown with straight grain. Can do parquet floors, pipes, musical instruments, furniture and cabinets. Selected logs are used to make furniture veneer, cabinet veneer, wainscoting and glossy doors.
Oak plywood: It has a relatively distinct mountain-shaped wood grain, and the touch surface has a good texture; the texture is solid, the finished product has a firm structure, and has a long service life; it is of high grade and is suitable for making European-style furniture. However, it also has shortcomings, such as: there are few high-quality tree species, most of which are imported from Russia and the United States, and some are imported from Turkey, Austria, Germany and Canada; usually imported oak boards have been strictly dried abroad and have good stability. Some manufacturers directly import logs from abroad, cut and dry them by themselves. Many domestic oak furniture professional manufacturers make oak furniture with high stability. However, due to the hard texture of oak, it is difficult to remove the water. The furniture made of purified water may begin to deform or shrink and crack after a year or a half; the phenomenon of replacing oak with rubber wood is common in the market. If the customer’s professional knowledge is insufficient, it will directly affect the interests of consumers.
